Understanding the Raise to % of the Pot Formula

To make a pot-sized raise, you need to follow this simple formula:

A 100% Pot-sized raise=3×size of opponent’s bet/raise + size of pot before opponent’s bet/raise

Example 1

Pot was 10 and your opponent bets 5.

Now to get a 100% Pot size raise we need to bet 3x5 + 10 = 25

Note that if we just called 5 pot would be 20. So we not only called 5, but raised a pot (20) resulting in a 25 raise size.

Example 2

Pot was 10 and your opponent bet 10.

Now to get a 100% Pot size raise we need to bet 3x10 + 10 = 40

Example 3

Lets say you chose a 50% pot raise size in Postflopizer.

In case when Pot was 10 and your opponent bet 5 now a 50% pot size raise would be calculated using following formula:

Pot would be (10+5+5) =20

20* 50% + 5 = 15 which would indicate a 50% raise size.

You can always check the tree preview to see what kind of raise you're ending up with:
